SAM LONGMORE
Sam Longmore is an artist and electronic musician based in Tāmaki Makaurau. His work is informed by minimalist aesthetics, theories of architecture and geography, and aural experiences of the world around us. He has performed and exhibited at galleries and project spaces throughout Aotearoa and abroad.
YAGIGA SEOUL, ARTELEGE VLADIVOSTOK
My time in Vladivostok was brief and busy as I developed an audio artwork about the city which was presented at Artetage – the museum of modern art. Building upon my interest in soundscapes as they relate to place, the work was principally comprised of recordings I had made of the city's many different soundscapes, and was diffused throughout the gallery through an array of concealed bluetooth speakers. At a conceptual level, it might be considered in relation to the history of landscape painting, or more overtly, that of documentary photography.
